Autism Strategy and ADHD Taskforce: Our Position

Creased Puddle statement on the Autism Act strategy update and the ADHD Taskforce report.

Creased Puddle welcomes the publication of the Autism strategy update and the latest report from the Independent ADHD Taskforce. Both documents highlight the continued need for evidence based approaches, early intervention, and system wide change to ensure that autistic and ADHD individuals receive timely, effective and equitable support.

As a specialist neuro inclusion consultancy, we recognise that the challenges outlined in these reports cannot be addressed through single interventions or isolated policy shifts. They require coordinated action across education, health, social care, workplaces and the criminal justice system. Our contribution focuses on three core areas: developing skilled practitioners through high quality training, delivering research informed workplace needs assessments, and supporting organisations to embed inclusive practices that go beyond compliance.

The Autism strategy reaffirms the importance of person centred support, accessible pathways and improved professional understanding. Our Neurodiversity Workplace Needs Assessor training aligns directly with these aims by equipping practitioners to deliver assessments that are legally robust, sensitive to lived experience and grounded in occupational and psychological evidence. We will continue to expand this workforce to help close gaps in provision and raise the standard of workplace assessment nationally.

The ADHD Taskforce report rightly identifies the urgency of reducing delays, improving diagnostic pathways and addressing inequalities in recognition and support. Through our neurodiversity training, research projects, community partnerships and specialist consultancy, we support organisations to build ADHD aware environments where individuals can access reasonable adjustments without unnecessary barriers or gatekeeping. We stand behind the report’s emphasis on lived experience, interdisciplinary working and system accountability.

We recognise that meaningful progress relies on understanding the full intersectionality that extends beyond ADHD and autism, acknowledging the diverse cognitive profiles, co occurring conditions and lived experiences that shape an individual’s needs and outcomes.

We look forward to working with partners, local authorities, employers and practitioners to support the implementation of the commitments set out in both reports. Creased Puddle remains committed to driving high standards, strengthening the neuro inclusion workforce and ensuring that policy translates into meaningful, measurable change for the people it is designed to support.
