Case Study – Neurodiversity in the Workplace session with LeedsBID

In 2022, we were contacted by Leeds Business Improvement District (LeedsBID), who were looking to run a face-to-face lunch and learn about neurodiversity in the workplace. The session was primarily for HR professionals and managers from a range of levy paying organisations across Leeds City Centre.

The first session sold out and quickly and was regarded a great success, receiving the following feedback:

  • “I personally thought the session was brilliant, and I came away with a really positive outlook on a topic which admittedly I knew very little about”.
  • “It was amazing! What a brilliant course and one definitely to be repeated… [The speaker] was so engaging, and it was pitched at just the right level. I learned a great deal that can be applied in my workplace”.
  • “I certainly enjoyed it and found it a useful eye opener… I will circulate the information to our team and raise it with our senior managers”.

We were contacted again the following year to arrange another two awareness sessions (which both gradually got longer in length!).

As keen advocates for neuroinclusion, LeedsBID recognised that neurodiversity was quickly becoming an essential topic their levy paying organisations wanted to know more about and in February 2024, we were invited to run our Line Managers course, for 15 managers from a variety of different sectors. Managers involved in this course learnt about:

  • Neuroinclusive Performance Management
  • Having Conversations about Neurodivergence
  • Reasonable Adjustments.

As a result of the training we have done for LeedsBID, we have been invited to host a panel at Leeds International Festival of Ideas in October 2024. Organised by LeedsBID, the panel titled ‘We’re all neurodiverse, aren’t we?’ will present an exciting discussion full of myth busting, practical advance and expert advocacy featuring a full range of neurodiversity experts. The panel will include Doddz, Christine McGuinness, Ellie Middleton, Tumi Sotire and Dr Alice Siberry. We are also very pleased to share that this was the first LIFI event to sell out!!!!
