The Impact of Neurodiversity Coaching – Case Study

At Creased Puddle we believe that one of the most powerful methods of making progress is through coaching. Our coaching team has a vast amount of experience in helping neurodivergent brains achieve their goals. With permission, we are sharing this case study to show how one of our client’s made progress when working with our wonderful Remi Chappell. The client came to us as they had joined their department as a Case Administrator and they were struggling with the challenges of ADHD. They were experiencing a lot of rejection sensitivity which was causing conflict with management where development plans were considered. They said that the things that they found most difficult were:

  • Sensory overwhelm
  • Executive function
  • Masking
  • Communication

The client was introduced to Creased Puddle through a neurodiversity workplace needs assessment. This helped identify the strengths and challenges that the client experiences in the workplace and it made recommendations of how to move forward. The client then approached their HR department and they received 6 hours of coaching and 90 minutes of co-coaching with their line manager. Co-coaching with a line manager helps to develop better working relationships through the shared development of communication and strategies.

Does ADHD Coaching Help?

It is really inspiring when we work with line managers who want to understand their staff and get the best out of them. Remi helped the client change their perspective of themselves so that they can challenge the thoughts associated with rejection sensitivity. This, in turn, enabled the client to strengthen her relationships with others, as they became better at managing their reactions. Their line manager was inspired by the working relationship that Remi and the client had built together and the impact that this was having on their staff member.

They shared that within one co-coaching session they had developed techniques which they can take forward to support everyone in the workplace. Remi watched the communication between the client and line manager and with Remi’s support they were able to consider alternative ways to approach important topics. The client described their experience after coaching as being a “complete 180 at work” and they had made substantial improvements in work, more importantly, they had learnt more about themselves.

Neurodiversity coaching can be transformative and we pride ourselves on the thousands of people we have coached, additionally we’re proud of all of our clients who have taken the leap to start coaching.
